Always be prepared to SAY NO when someone asks if you are interested in banned performance enhancing substances, offers, or sell you such substances, or asks you to take any food, drinks, or medications that you don’t know the contents of.

In some cases, the person who asks could be someone you already know.

Remember, you have every right to SAY NO because:
– It is down to you to choose what is right for you and your sport
– It is your body, not theirs
– At the end of the day, you are the only one who will be blamed and banned for doping as you have to take responsibility of your own behaviour in sport.
– The person might not have as much knowledge or awareness of anti-doping and banned performance-enhancing substances in sport as you do.
– You have strong reasons, beliefs, and moral values to keep yourself away from banned substances or methods.

The World Anti-Doping Code

The World Anti-Doping Code (Code) is the core document that harmonizes anti-doping policies, rules and regulations within sport organizations and among public authorities around the world. It works in conjunction with eight International Standards which aim to foster consistency among anti-doping organizations in various areas.

The Code was first published by the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2003. Prior to 2003, there was no one standardized set of rules for all sports and countries.

The 2022 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (List) went into effect on 1 January 2022.
